Repeated studies have shown that this work style impairs blood flow; actually pooling blood in the legs and preventing it from effectively getting back to the heart.
But there is good news for those of us who can't stand all day at our desk or have long commutes. A new study out of Indiana University suggests that breaking up your sitting schedule with five minute walks each hour can reverse the ill effects of full time sitting. Sounds like a good plan for heart health.
